Karl Rove, And Republican Boredom

Yes, it's too early to say for certain, but given Scott McLellan's verbal mind tricks at the press conferences, it is looking very much like it was Karl Rove that leaking the name of the undercover agent. You'll recall that our "fearless leader" W, said that whoever did it would be fired. Will he get his chance to make good on it? It's fun to watch Republicans squirm when they realize that their friends are not the magnificent people they make them out to be. Plus, come on, it's Karl Rove. Is anyone surprised? Really?

Oh, and this is another little gem I heard about. Here is the story from a Republican blogger, if you prefer. Tom Davis and John Sweeney are trying to push baseball around by issuing veiled threats about how baseball should not allow George Soros to co-own a team, and that if he is allowed to co-own a team, then maybe Congress would come down on them in some way. Bud Selig, the commissioner of baseball, said today that the decision before them is not political. Good for him. It had to be said. First it's flag-burning, because you know it's such a terrible epidemic here, now they don't want people with opposing political views to buy some things, next thing you know they will start passing ordinances on the length of male fingernails out of boredom. This is what happens when the party in control gets power and then gets complacent. They get busy, then they get bored, then they get stupid, and then they get voted out. I'm just waiting for the last part to happen now. It won't come a moment too soon.

I think you over analyze Erik. Karl rove is an arrogant ass, not unlike Soros actually. The difference is that Rove is a brilliant strategist. YOu make not like him much (I never have) but he know the ins and outs of politics.

The Rove thing is way overblown, please recall that Senator Kerry outed an undercover agent during the confirmation hearings for Mr. Bolton.

I don't care how Soros spends his money really, it is his choice. I chuckle that he spent billion trying to get a loser like Kerry elected. Much of his money funds ad campaigns that are decpeptive at best. Thankfully, I think intelligent people are brighter than all of his slanted politics.

I do agree that you cannot (or should not) legislate stupidity. If someone has the balls to burn a flag near me, God help them though, but that is just me.

The only thing I would like to correct you on, Erik, is that the current political party was stupid first.

And it sounds like I need to burn a flag while standing next to Nicnerd.

Yeah, nicnerd is kind of über patriotic. My country right or wrong is all well and good, but at a certain point you have to start questioning whether you recognize it as the same country or not. No, we are not at all there yet as far as I'm concerned, but just saying that there are limits to the kind of stupidity that most people will just "go along" with.

I think that your use of "über" is gramatically incorrect, as is your belief. I am patrioticm, but to the fault of bleiving that we can do no wrong. Our pal, dcpunk just wear his non-conformist brithes a bit too securely.

I think that you would have a hard time convincing anyone that has served that burning a flag would not evoke some sort of outrage.

Erik Grow, still the King of broad generalizations.

I served - 4 years in the Navy. I will burn a flag every day of the week just to express my right to do so, and the fact that the flag no longer represents anything more than big businesses and the bonehead politicians whose palms they grease.

A noncomformist? You betcha. I won't follow ANY rhetoric like a simple sheep.

P.S. If you think that there was never a Vietname Vet who burned a flag, you are nothing short of completely foolish. Did I also mention that my best friend, who I met in the Navy, feels the same way I do? As does every other last soul we befriended while serving?

Hey instead of burning our flag to show distaste in the government...Why not burn politicians or their homes for that matter....I mean come on the flag stands for this country and the beliefs it was founded under... The politicians are the ones that have made us hate ourselves and our country along with making the majority of the world hate us too... Not our flag.... It is bad enough you have to see people from other countries burning our flag..But why do we have too???? What good does it do???? Do you think a single politician cares when our flag is burned by other countries or by us???? Instead lets all get together and burn our tax forms and see what they think about that??? That will make them sit up and pay attention....

As the great Merle Haggard once said..."If you are running down my flag you are walking on the fighting side of me...."

Lay off the flag too many people have fought and died to uphold what that flag stands for and it is very disgraceful to them when it is burned...Why not go to ARlington National Cemetery and spit on all their graves..same thing....

And dcpunk if I was on a boat for four years with a bunch of hard leg dudes all day I would probably want to burn shit too.....
